When you are going on a trip to Hawaii, you can expect two things.

Firstly, all of your friends will likely be incredibly jealous of you and secondly, you can expect a bit of a temperature adjustment if you were from a colder country!

If you are somebody who burns easily when exposed to the sun, or you don’t do very well in overly hot weather, you must prepare for your time on this tropical island. This means you will need to have a bit of a checklist when it comes to packing to go on this kind of vacation.

Of course, it’s not all bad news, and there are some very fun things you also need to take when preparing for your Hawaiian vacation. So here are some items that you will need to pack.

Swimwear

Even if you are staying in one of the Waikiki resort hotels, you will likely be near a beach or a swimming pool. Ergo. you need to pack swimwear. Water activities and swimming are a core part of the culture of Hawaii, as are surfing and snorkeling. So, you need to pack something that is comfortable to help you enjoy the ocean and the pools. Oh, and don’t forget you’ll need a lot of sunscreen and probably a sun hat if you are walking around on the beaches in a bikini.

Sunscreen

As mentioned before, Hawaii is known for its sandy beaches and clear turquoise water, which is enticing to swim about. It’s also known for its very sunny weather, and if you are from somewhere like Europe or north America, this can be a bit of a shock. You will need to ensure that you pack sunscreen that is at least factor 50 when you are planning to vacation in Hawaii. You also need to ensure that it is applied regularly to avoid sunburn, especially if you are traveling with young children.

Comfortable Footwear

Most people indeed associate a trip to the beach with wearing flip-flops, especially if you are in Hawaii. However, if you are planning to visit a National Park or go on a hike, the last thing you want is floppy footwear. Aim to pack a pair of breathable, comfortable shoes for when you will be exploring the islands. This will help to keep your feet happy in uneven terrain, as well as keep your feet cool without the risk of sunburn or injuries from stepping on rocks.

Cotton Clothing

As mentioned before, Hawaii is a tropical climate, so you will want to pack lightweight and breathable clothing, preferably made from natural materials such as cotton, bamboo, or even hemp. Try to get comfortable and airy attire, such as shorts, t-shirts, and sun dresses, which will help you stay cool and comfortable during those very warm days traversing the islands.

Water Carrier

Most people are aware of the issues that drinking from single-use plastic can cause, although, when you are in such a hot environment, it can be tempting to buy a whole bunch of disposable water bottles simply. When traveling to Hawaii, you should ensure you have a reusable water canister or bottle to take with you on long trips in the heat, so you will not be contributing to rubbish being dumped on the islands.
